Penny King
Dance Instructor/Owner
Originally from Santa Monica, California, Penny enjoyed a childhood filled with beach roaming, dance lessons and performing opportunities with the Santa Monica Civic Ballet and Opera Companies.
After moving to Oregon in the mid 1970’s, she danced with the State Ballet of Oregon and the Eugene Ballet, and was involved in over 25 Rogue Music Theatre productions as dancer, actor, and choreographer. She danced and acted her way through many Barnstormer productions over the years before turning to directing and choreographing musicals, most recently Cabaret, Chicago, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, 70 Girls 70, and A Day in Hollywood/A Night in Ukraine. In 1991 she opened Stillpoint Dance Studio and has been teaching ballet and directing/choreographing and producing an annual “Nutcracker Ballet” for 32 years.
Penny is grateful for the opportunities she has had to share her life long love of theatre, music, and dance.
While dance and performance in all forms are loved by Penny, ballet is her passion. Many students that have participated in Penny’s training have gone on to successful, professional careers.
